This barbell has split sleeves. The outer sleeve rotates and the inner sleeve is fixed. The fixed inner sleeve provides protection for the moving outer sleeve. When someone works out with heavy weights to the point of exhaustion, there is a high likelihood of knocking or dropping the Olympic bar. The inner sleeve lessens the impact of the Olympic bar hitting the floor because it is fixed. It also protects the rotating sleeve if the bar hits something because somebody kicks it. You could hit the inside of the sleeves on other commercial, fitness equipment. The fixed inner sleeve will protect the outer sleeve from damage. Lifetime, Commercial, Fitness Equipment WarrantyThis warranty is for a lifetime of use. It applies to use by a family in a typical home. If there is any damage as a result of a defects in the workmanship or material of these Olympic bar we will repair or replace them. This warranty does not cover neglect, misuse or normal wear and tear. This warranty covers the structural integrity of the Olympic bar, and does not cover bending of the steel. York Barbell has been in business since 1929, which was before the lifetime of most people alive today. Other barbell companies could go out of business during your lifetime, but you know York Barbell will be able to honor this warranty years from now. This warranty becomes void after the Olympic bar are transfered to a new owner. We can not be held responsible for incidental or consequential damages caused by any defects in this Olympic bar.
